Nach starken Ergebnissen von Major Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) letzte Woche, folgt Branchengigant BHP Billiton (ASX:BHP) heute mit ebenfalls ordentlichen Produktions-Zahlen, wobei der Ausblick in vielen Bereichen etwas vage bleibt. Bumper BHP figures dampened by falling iron ore prices
BHP Billiton has announced bumper production figures, led by record output in both coking coal and iron ore.

In a sign of productivity gains being squeezed out across the group, BHP Billiton has hit record production levels at 10 of its operations, delivering an overall 10% increase in output. Gains were led by a 19% rise in its attributable iron ore production to 98m tonnes for the 6 months to December, lifted by the early delivery of its Jimblebar mine in Western Australia..

  • BHP Billiton (BHP) says it produced 48.9M tons of iron ore in the three months through December, up 16% Y/Y, taking production for the first half of its FY 2014 to a record 97.8M tons, up 19% Y/Y.
  • Despite the strong H1, BHP stops short of upgrading full-year guidance on fears that storms could disrupt mining in Australia's Pilbara region.
  • BHP also reports a 6% Y/Y rise in quarterly copper output to 439.9K tons, and a 30% increase in met coal production to 11.5M tons.
