Die deutsche K+S AG (XE.SDF) verschiebt aufgrund höherer Kosten den Start der kommerziellen Produktion auf dem massiven Legacy Pottasche-Projekt in Saskatchewan um mindestens 6 Monate.
Die Branchengröße hatte das Projekt vor 3 Jahren durch die Übernahme vom einstigen Kali-Developer Potash One für 428 Mio. USD erworben, der u.a. auch zur Peer Group von Western Potash (T.WPX) gehörte.

Die gesamte CAPEX für Legacy steigt nach den jüngsten Schätzungen laut K+S von 3,25 Mrd. USD erheblich auf über 4 Mrd. USD an. Ob das neue Kapitalbudget auch final ausreichen wird, bleibt erst einmal abzuwarten. Aufgrund der höheren Kapitalsumme und einer längeren Entwicklungs- und Konstruktionsperiode, verschiebt sich der anfängliche Start der Operationen (Commissioning) von Ende 2015 auf Sommer 2016.
Ab 2017 sollen auf Legacy dann jährlich 2 Mio. Tonnen Pottasche gefördert werden. Bis 2023 werden die Operationen weiter ausgebaut. Mit der finalen Produktionslinie wird K+S über 2,85 Mio. Tonnen Kali Jahr für Jahr in den Minenoperationen im kalireichen CA-Staat Saskatchewan fördern können.

K+S is committed to continuing the construction of the new potash plant in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. This includes the basic engineering and cost analysis of the major subprojects which is now at an advanced stage. The Supervisory Board which is always promptly and closely involved in all phases of the project has approved the decision of the Board of Executive Directors to increase the capex budget for the new plant to 4.1 billion CAD (about 3 billion €). The so far assessed 3.25 billion CAD were based on the feasibility study conducted in November 2011..
