Kaminak Gold Corporation Announces Positive Feasibility Study Results On Yukon Coffee Gold Project
View News Release in PDF Format
After-Tax NPV5% of C$455 million and IRR of 37 %; Average Life of Mine Annual Gold
Production of 184,000 Ounces and All-In Sustaining Costs of US$550/oz Au

January 6, 2016
Vancouver, B.C. – Kaminak Gold Corporation (“Kaminak” or the “Company”) (KAM: TSX-V) is pleased to announce the results of a Feasibility Study prepared in accordance with National Instrument 43-101 (NI 43-101) for the Company’s 100% owned Coffee Gold Project (the “Coffee Project”) located 130 km south of Dawson City in Yukon Territory, Canada. The Feasibility Study indicates that the Coffee Project represents a robust, rapid pay-back, high margin, ten year open pit mining and heap leach project that works in the current gold price environment.  As such, Kaminak intends to move forward into mine permitting to support mine construction, which is planned for mid-2018. The Company is well financed ($28 million as of September 30, 2015) to undertake an aggressive work-plan in 2016 to meet these objectives.

At a gold price of US$1,150/oz and an exchange rate of C$1.00 to US$0.78, the Coffee Project base case estimate (the “Base Case”) generates an after-tax net present value (NPV) at a 5% discount rate of C$455 million and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 37%.  The proposed mine will operate over an initial ten year mine-life with average annual gold production in excess of 200,000 ounces for the first five years (excluding the initial 3 month ramp-up period), and average annual life-of-mine gold production of 184,000 ounces.  Initial capital expenditure to fund construction and commissioning is estimated at C$317 million, with a life-of-mine capital cost of C$478 million (including C$60 million in closure costs). The all-in sustaining cash costs (as defined per World Gold Council guidelines, less corporate G&A) is estimated to be US$550 per ounce of gold produced.  The project is expected to have a significant impact on Yukon’s GDP, generating over $2 billion of gross revenue and contributing 480 permanent, high paying jobs.

Eira Thomas, Kaminak President and CEO commented: “This feasibility study firmly establishes the Coffee Project as one of the world’s best undeveloped gold projects by value and margin that works in the current gold-price environment.  The Coffee Project further benefits from being a simple, open pit, heap leach mining opportunity, situated near infrastructure that delivers low all in sustaining costs and pays back capital in under two years”. She further noted, “Kaminak feels privileged to be working in the pro-mining jurisdiction of Yukon where we enjoy strong relations with all levels of government, including our local First Nations, with whom we have worked alongside, collaboratively since 2010.”

Accompanying this news release is a video corporate presentation given by Eira Thomas, Kaminak President & CEO, discussing the Feasibility Study and available for viewing by clicking the following link: https://www.webcaster4.com/Webcast/Page/1369/12606, or by visiting the Kaminak website, www.kaminak.com.

Furthermore, Kaminak is hosting a live Q&A conference call on Thursday, January 7th at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time (8:00 a.m. Pacific time) with the Kaminak Executive and Feasibility Study team.  Participants may join the call by dialing toll-free North America (866) 393-4306 or International (734) 385-2616 and providing the company name (Kaminak Gold Corporation) to the operator.  A recorded playback of the call will be available two hours after the call’s completion until January 21st, 2016 by dialing (855) 859-2056 and entering the conference ID#: 17824557, and on the Kaminak website.
Coffee Project Feasibility Study Overview
The Feasibility Study was initiated in July 2014 after the release of the Preliminary Economic Assessment in June 2014 and commenced with infill drilling, geotechnical investigations and other fieldwork to support the study.  The Feasibility Study was prepared and led by JDS Energy and Mining Inc. (JDS), an established Yukon mine builder, in collaboration with a broad range of industry leading consultants (see Contributors below),

Highlights (all currencies are reported in Canadian dollars unless otherwise specified):
  • A pre-tax NPV5% and IRR of $762 million and 50% respectively;
  • An after-tax NPV5% and IRR of $455 million and 37% respectively;
  • A mine life of ten years with peak annual gold production of 228,000 ounces in project Year 4 and average, steady state, annual gold production of 193,000 ounces (Years 1-9);
  • 2,157,000 ounces of gold mined at head grade of 1.45 g/t Au (Probable Mineral Reserve of 46.4 Mt at 1.45 g/t Au, containing 2.157 Moz Au.);
  • 1,862,000 ounces of gold produced after average metallurgical gold recoveries of 86.3%;
  • Total cash cost estimated at US$482 /oz Au (including royalties, refining and transport) and an all-in sustaining cost (as defined by the World Gold Council less Corporate G&A) estimated at US$550/oz Au, generating an operating margin of US$600/oz or 52%;
  • Initial and sustaining capital costs, including contingency, for a 100% owner-operated mine are estimated at $317 million and $161 million (including $60 million in closure costs) respectively; and
  • A payback of 1.5 years pre-tax and 2.0 years after-tax after the commencement of first commercial gold production;
The Feasibility Study proposes four open pits mined by conventional shovel and truck methods at a nominal ore mining rate of 5 million tonnes per annum for approximately ten years (with Year 1 being the first full year of commercial gold production). A total of 312 Mt of material will be mined to produce 46.4 Mt of ore (strip ratio of 5.7 : 1). Run-of-mine ore will be crushed to a 2-inch feed size and placed on a heap leach pad. Gold will be extracted from the leachate by an Adsorption-Desorption-Recovery (ADR) carbon plant..

Kaminak Reports Over 90% Gold Recovery From 23 of 26 Column Leach Tests on Coffee Oxide Material at Various Crush Sizes

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - May 4, 2015) - Kaminak Gold Corporation (TSX VENTURE:KAM) today announced results of the comprehensive metallurgical test work program at the Coffee Gold Project, Yukon, that will provide process input data for the Feasibility Study scheduled for completion in early 2016. The primary objectives of the metallurgical program were to confirm the previous excellent metallurgical test results, expand the testing to all currently known potential mine areas identified, and determine optimal gold recoveries and crush sizes for the Feasibility Study.
Highlights from this work include:
• Column leach gold recoveries for bulk surface trench oxide samples for the Latte Deposit 6" crushed material averaged 88.5% (2 tests) and for the Supremo Deposit 6" crushed material averaged 87% (2 tests).
• Column leach gold recoveries for bulk surface trench oxide samples for Latte 2" and Latte 1/2" crushed material averaged 93.5% (4 tests), and for Supremo 2" and Supremo 1/2" crushed material averaged 94.5% (4 tests), with very little difference between the 2" and 1/2' crush sizes.
• Column leach gold recoveries for oxide core composites for Latte 2" and Latte 1/2" crushed material averaged 94.2% (4 tests), and for Supremo 2" and Supremo 1/2" crushed material averaged 94.0% (4 tests), again with very little difference between the 2" and 1/2' crush sizes.
• Column leach gold recoveries for oxide core composites for the Double Double Deposit 2" and Double Double 1/2" crushed material averaged 95% (2 tests), and for the Kona Deposit 2" and Kona 1/2" crushed material averaged 89.5% (2 tests).
• Agglomeration was not required for any of the column tests and low reagent consumption was reported.
• All of the column leach tests at the 0.5 inch size were performed at a temperature of 4 degrees Centigrade to simulate cold climate leaching. Column leach test work was conducted by Kappes, Cassiday and Associates, industry leading experts in heap leach processing.
• Supporting images associated with this metallurgical test work program may be viewed by clicking here.
Fred Lightner, Kaminak Director of Mine Development, stated: "This latest round of metallurgical test work strongly confirms previous testing. The volume of test work now completed on oxide has consistently produced high gold recoveries demonstrating the remarkable amenability of the Coffee deposits to the heap leach process. Crush size and recoveries from all facies, including oxide, upper and mid transitional materials, will be further evaluated in conjunction with the results of the 2015 infill drilling and the updated block models. This analysis will then determine the final decision around crush size to be incorporated into the feasibility study due out in early 2016."

CATEGORY ROSS BEATYSTORIES,
Tekoa Da Silva recently sat down with serial entrepreneur Ross Beaty, founder of Pan American Silver and Alterra Power.
Mr. Beaty is a legendary investor in the resource sector. He made his fortune buying up mineral assets in depressed markets and selling them years later at hefty premiums.
Is Mr. Beaty still confident you can make money buying undervalued assets in the resource sector during periods of depressed metals prices?
Tekoa asked him how the current market compared to past bear markets in resources and precious metals, and what he’d be doing today as an investor.

Junior-Minensektor: Aktuelle Investments vom legendären Entrepreneur und Mining-Tycoon Ross Beaty

Ross Beaty’s latest junior mining investment

One thing is for sure the junior mining market continues to struggle as we have had four consecutive down years on the TSX Venture (2011-2014) and 2015 is not off to a promising start.  Legendary mining financier and company builder Ross Beaty has been one of the few who is actively putting money to work and buying positions in junior companies.
Today we found out his latest public investment in a junior when Arena Minerals(AN:TSXV) announced a $1.5 million dollar financing. Inside the press release Arena announced that Mr. Beaty and his associated parties would be subscribing for $1 million dollars of the $1.5 million placement. Upon successful closing Mr. Beaty will hold approximately 12% of the issued shares of Arena.
Shares of Arena shot up 5 cents (43%) to close at $0.165 cents on the news. It shows Mr. Beaty has a strong following even in these quiet markets and investors are eager to invest alongside him. The rest of the private placement will have no trouble filling now if it is not already spoken for. I remember listening to several interviews with Rick Rule of Sprott in the last couple years where he refers to Ross as a “broken slot machine” because his investors are rewarded with big pay days so frequently.
I took a quick look at Arena and noticed they are a prospect generator focused on working in Chile. The flagship Atacama Copper property is located in the heart of the Antofagasta mining region which is well known for copper deposits. Arena has an option to acquire 80% of the early stage project. Other projects include Pampas El Penon which partially surrounds  Yamana Gold’s El Penon mine. Arena has also recently optioned off two projects to B2Gold.
Once the news hit the wires CEO.ca live  members were already chatting about what other companies Mr. Beaty is invested in. The following is a list of companies brought up in the chat. (Note: No guarantees Mr. Beaty is still invested in any of these companies. Please do your own due dilligence).

Kaminak Reports Robust PEA at US $1250/oz Gold on Coffee Gold Project
Pre-Tax NPV@5% of $522 million and IRR of 32.8%; Average Annual Gold Production of 167,000 Ounces and All-In Sustaining Costs of US$688/oz
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - June 10, 2014) - Kaminak Gold Corporation (TSX VENTURE:KAM) is pleased to announce the results of a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) prepared pursuant to National Instrument 43-101 (NI 43-101) on the Company's 100% owned Coffee Gold Project (Coffee), located 130km south of Dawson City, Yukon. The study indicates that Coffee represents a robust, high margin, rapid pay-back, 11-year open pit mining project at current gold prices. The study was prepared by JDS Energy & Mining Inc., an established Yukon mine builder, under the direction of Fred Lightner (Director of Mine Development, Kaminak) with contributions from Kappes Cassiday and Associates, Knight Piésold and Co. and SIM Geological Inc. At a gold-price of US$1250/oz and using an exchange rate of C$1.00 equal US$0.95, Coffee generates a pre-tax net present value (NPV) at a 5% discount rate of more than $500 million and an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 33%. Further, the mine could become a significant Yukon gold producer, yielding close to 450,000 ounces in the first two years and producing an average of 167,000 ounces annually over the life of mine at an all-in sustaining cash cost of US$688 per ounce of gold.
Kaminak will be hosting a live video webcast presentation at 10:30am Eastern Time (7:30am Pacific Time) on June 11, 2014 to discuss the results of the PEA. To participate in the live webcast, please click the following link: http://kaminak.com/investors/register/. For those who cannot participate, the video webcast will be archived on Kaminak's website (www.kaminak.com) within 24 hours of the presentation.
The PEA envisages an owner-operated, approximately 11-year open-pit mine targeting 53 million tonnes of primarily oxide facies material at an average diluted grade of 1.23 grams/tonne gold (g/t Au). The study incorporates a three-stage crushing circuit and a valley fill heap leach facility designed by Knight Piésold and Co., along with a standard carbon adsorption gold recovery plant to produce 1,859,000 ounces of gold doré over life of mine (LOM). It should be noted that the study outlines several opportunities to further enhance economics (see below) and the current resource remains open along strike and to depth. Further, more than 20km of untested gold in soil anomalies remain to be evaluated and Kaminak remains confident that additional near surface oxide resources can be identified in the near term; drilling is ongoing.
Highlights (all amounts are in Canadian dollars unless otherwise indicated; base case is stated using a gold price of US$ 1,250 per ounce and an exchange rate of C$1.00 equal US$0.95):
  • NPV of $522 million at a 5% discount rate and an IRR of 32.8% before taxes and mining duties, and an NPV of $330 million and an IRR of 26.2% after taxes and mining duties
  • Mine life of 11 years with peak production of 231,000 ounces per annum (Year 1) and average LOM production of 167,000 ounces of gold
  • Average metallurgical recoveries of 88% gold
  • 1,859,000 ounces LOM gold production at an average diluted grade of 1.23 g/t Au
  • All-in sustaining costs* of US $688/oz (including royalties) for LOM, generating an Operating margin of over US $560/oz or 42%
  • Initial capital costs of $305 million (including a 15% contingency)
  • Payback of 1.8 years pre-tax and 2.0 years post-tax
  • Gross Revenue of $2.4 Billion and Operating Cash-flow of $1.24 Billion
  • * All-in Sustaining Costs are presented as defined by the World Gold Council ("WGC") less Corporate G&A.
Eira Thomas, CEO commented: "The recently completed Coffee PEA has delivered a high value, high margin, low risk gold project in one of the World's safest, pro-mining jurisdictions, Yukon Canada, and marks a significant milestone for our Company. At a US $1250 gold-price, Coffee will generate more than $2 billion in gross revenue, deliver total life of mine, pre-tax, free cash of $800 million and payback capital in under 2 years. Further upside to this evaluation is anticipated through optimization studies and continued exploration. All of the deposits in the current resource remain open along strike and to depth."
Fred Lightner, Kaminak's Director of Mine Development, stated: "With the completion of the PEA, we now have an initial look at the economic potential of the Coffee Project. The grade of the deposit and strip ratio, metallurgical response, and relatively low operating costs are strong factors which create value. We believe that with additional exploration, delineation drilling, and project engineering the project will be further enhanced."
JDS Energy & Mining Inc.
