"The Kamoa Copper Project — a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines and Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd. — has been independently ranked as the world’s largest, undeveloped, high-grade copper discovery by international mining consultant Wood Mackenzie. It is a very large, near-surface, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.."

Ivanhoe Mines and Zijin Mining Group set to complete Zijin’s investment in the Kamoa Copper Project
HONG KONG – Robert Friedland, Executive Chairman of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TSX: IVN), and Chen Jinghe, Chairman of Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd., jointly announced today that Ivanhoe and Zijin have agreed to complete Zijin’s investment in Ivanhoe’s Kamoa Copper Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo on or before December 8, 2015.
Zijin agreed in May this year to acquire, through a subsidiary company, a 49.5% interest in Kamoa Holding Limited for an aggregate consideration of US$412 million. Kamoa Holding is an Ivanhoe Mines subsidiary that owns the company’s interest in the Kamoa Project. Ivanhoe also has agreed to sell 1% of its share interest in Kamoa Holding to Crystal River Global Limited. Details of the transaction are contained in the news release issued by Ivanhoe Mines on May 26, 2015.
Mr. Friedland said that constructive and cordial negotiations between Ivanhoe Mines, Zijin and senior DRC government officials in recent weeks have established an agreed course of action to develop the Kamoa Project.
“Ivanhoe and Zijin, together with Crystal River, have confirmed that all conditions to completion have been satisfied or waived and that the investment will be completed on or before December 8, 2015, in Hong Kong. Zijin is one of the world’s most accomplished miners and the conclusion of this transaction is a major step toward the realization of significant benefits for all of the stakeholders of Ivanhoe and Zijin, as well as for the Congolese people,” Mr. Friedland added..

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 23, 2015) - Cordoba Minerals Corp. (TSX VENTURE:CDB) ("Cordoba" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the commencement of diamond drilling at the San Matias Copper-Gold Project (the "San Matias Project") in the Department of Cordoba, Colombia. The current diamond drilling campaign will focus on the recently acquired Alacran Property located within the San Matias Project. The planned 3,000 metre diamond drill program will test both strike and vertical extensions of the mineralization, largely within the central and northern parts of the deposit where previous drilling returned 188 metres of 0.71% Cu and 0.25 g/t Au in ASA-012 and 128 metres of 0.84% Cu and 0.45 g/t Au in ASA-014.
Mario Stifano, CEO of Cordoba, commented: "We are excited to commence the initial 3,000 metre diamond drilling program at Alacran where the vertical depth of the deposit is largely untested and remains open over the current 1.3 kilometre strike length including the northern parts of the deposit where some of the best copper-gold intersections have been intersected to date."

Ivanhoe Mines and China's Zijin Mining Group Sign Landmark Agreement to Co-Develop the World-Scale Kamoa Copper Discovery in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Zijin to acquire 49.5% of Ivanhoe's Kamoa stake for a total cash consideration of US$412 million
Zijin holds option to acquire an additional 1% share upon successfully arranging project financing for 65% of the first phase of Kamoa's development costs
XIAMEN, CHINA--(Marketwired - May 26, 2015) - Robert Friedland, Executive Chairman of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TSX:IVN), and Lars-Eric Johansson, Chief Executive Officer, announced today that Ivanhoe and Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd. have agreed to a strategic co-development of the Kamoa copper discovery in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Under terms of agreements signed in Xiamen, Zijin - through its subsidiary, Gold Mountains (H.K.) International Mining Company Limited - will buy a 49.5% share interest in Kamoa Holding Limited (Kamoa Holding), an Ivanhoe subsidiary that presently owns 95% of the Kamoa Project, for an aggregate consideration of US$412 million (approximately C$506 million).
The purchase price will be satisfied by an initial payment of US$206 million in cash upon the closing of the transaction, which is expected on or about July 31, 2015, and is subject to Zijin's receipt of approvals by the government of the People's Republic of China, and certain other customary closing conditions.
The agreements specify that the remaining US$206 million will be paid in five equal installments, payable every 3.5 months from closing and continuing through the remainder of 2015 and into 2016..
..
"This agreement with Zijin, one of the world's most accomplished miners, is further confirmation of Kamoa's distinction as one of the most significant, undeveloped mineral discoveries of our age and charts a course for the realization of significant benefits for all of Ivanhoe's and Zijin's stakeholders as well as the Congolese people. Together with the Congolese government and Zijin, we aim to meet the expectations of the Congolese people and our stakeholders in Katanga as we proceed to build a world-class, new copper mine," said Mr. Friedland.
"The strategic partnership with Ivanhoe announced today, through which we plan to jointly develop Kamoa, will turn our respective strengths into synergies that will create significant value for both Zijin and Ivanhoe shareholders, as well as the societies in which we operate," Mr Chen added..

Ivanhoe Mines: Weitere high-grade Bohrerfolge auf Kipushi in der DRC
Die neue Discovery wird größer und größer..
Quote:
Ivanhoe Mines Reports Additional High-Grade Zinc, Copper, Silver and Germanium Drill Results From Ongoing Exploration Program at the Kipushi Mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo
- Assay results confirm high-grade zinc discovery at depth south of the Big Zinc zone
- Drilling also confirms copper and zinc mineralization below Gecamines historical inferred resources, now shown to extend to 1,825 metres below surface
- Final assays received from initial exploration phase now will allow for a current resource estimate under NI 43-101 for the Big Zinc zone
LUBUMBASHI, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO--(Marketwired - April 13, 2015) - Robert Friedland, Executive Chairman of Ivanhoe Mines (TSX:IVN), and Lars-Eric Johansson, Chief Executive Officer, announced today that additional, exceptionally high-grade zinc, copper and silver drill intercepts have been reported in the fifth batch of assay results from the company's underground diamond-drilling program at the historic, high-grade Kipushi copper-zinc-germanium-lead and precious-metals mine.
Assay results received for drill hole KPU072 have confirmed a high-grade zone of zinc mineralization exists at depth to the south of the historically defined Big Zinc zone. Follow-up drilling by Ivanhoe confirms the initial massive sphalerite discovery and suggests a geometry and orientation similar to the Big Zinc zone.
New drilling also establishes the presence of copper and zinc sulphide zones at depth significantly below the level of the historical holes drilled by state-owned mining company Gécamines, confirming that the Kipushi mineralizing system remains open at depth.
"Our underground drilling program at Kipushi is continuing to deliver exceptionally high-grade intercepts in several target areas, while leading to an improved understanding of geology and structural controls on the mineralization," said Mr. Friedland.
"While the world's biggest zinc mine in Australia is winding down operations due to depletion of its ore, the timing to look at bringing Kipushi back into production couldn't be better. Kipushi hosts the richest zinc-copper deposit in the world, with many drill intercepts in the Big Zinc zone recording grades between 40% and 60% zinc."
The Kipushi Mine is on the Central African Copperbelt in southern Katanga province, approximately 30 kilometres southwest of Lubumbashi.
Highlights of the new assay results on the Big Zinc results include:
- KPU067 drilled on section line 3: 18.9 metres, drilled length, grading 38.5% zinc, 0.2% copper, 7 grams per tonne (g/t) silver and 44 g/t germanium, plus a second intercept of 39.7 metres grading 23.0% zinc, 0.2% copper, 4 g/t silver and 34 g/t germanium.
- KPU068 drilled on section line 15: 79.8 metres, drilled length, grading 28.3% zinc, 0.3% copper, 31 g/t silver and 31 g/t germanium, including an intercept of 23.8 metres grading 41.8% zinc, 0.1% copper, 28 g/t silver and 40 g/t germanium.
- KPU069 drilled on section line 17: 40.2 metres, drilled length, grading 37.5% zinc, 0.1% copper, 57 g/t silver and 45 g/t germanium.
- KPU070 drilled on section line 17: 6.7 metres true thickness grading 7.9% copper, 0.2% zinc, 55 g/t silver and 0.52% cobalt.
- KPU071 drilled on section line 9: 85.0 metres, drilled length, grading 49.0% zinc, 0.3% copper, 12 g/t silver and 61 g/t germanium.
The new assay results were also returned for the Nord Riche area of the Kipushi fault zone,
- KPU073: 7.9 metres true thickness grading 8.2% copper, 1.9 % zinc and 17.0 g/t silver and 0.26% cobalt.
Results also were received for the significant zone of sphalerite mineralization previously reported to the south and below the historical Big Zinc Resource.
- KPU072: 57.7 metres, drilled length, grading 37.0% zinc, 0.6% copper and 6 g/t silver and 54 g/t germanium including an interval of 50.8 metres grading 40.7% zinc, 0.6% copper, 6 g/t silver and 54 g/t germanium.
Drilling results continue to confirm new discovery in the area of previously reported mineralization intersected by drill hole KPU072..

“Anybody who says that the super-cycle is over is an idiot, it’s just been deferred for a little bit”, mining tycoon Robert Friedland told a packed audience in London last week.
I was there for the 12th annual Mines and Money show. And if you’re in the mining business and haven’t been to London lately, the Mines and Money show is a great excuse to visit one of the world’s most colourful cities. I thoroughly enjoyed the high tea, fish and chips, pints at the pubs, and of course the conference, which was held just outside the glitzy Mayfair area.
Many of the mining industry’s leaders presented at the conference, including:
- Evy Hambro
- Clem Sunter
- Robert Friedland
- Mark Bristow
- Frank Giustra
- Ross Beaty
The event was very well attended, considering the ticket price to get in isn’t cheap (~$3,000). Not surprisingly, the crowd was made up of mostly highly motivated fund managers, investors and analysts.
Among the attendees were some of the largest money managers in the natural resources sector, including Evy Hambro of Blackrock and Neil Gregson of JP Morgan, as well as representatives from most of the bulge bracket and boutique banks..

Turquoise Hill Resources Announces Board Changes
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - May 1, 2013) - Turquoise Hill Resources (TSX:TRQ)(NYSE:TRQ)(NASDAQ:TRQ) today announced that directors Livia Mahler and Peter Meredith will not stand for re-election at the upcoming annual meeting of shareholders on May 10, 2013, as a result of changes in Robert Friedland's holdings in the company. Additionally, Dan Larsen, a Rio Tinto nominee, will not stand for re-election.
Ms. Mahler, an independent director, and Mr. Meredith are both nominees of Mr. Robert Friedland. Under the terms of the 2012 memorandum of agreement (as amended) between Turquoise Hill and Rio Tinto, Mr. Friedland had the right to nominate two directors to the Turquoise Hill board for as long as he continued to own at least 10% of the outstanding common shares of Turquoise Hill. Following private sale transactions completed in late April 2013, Mr. Friedland's holdings in Turquoise Hill shares fell below the 10% threshold..
