Große Goldproduzenten fokussieren sich auf aktive Minenbezirke und Junior-Firmen

Hierzu ein aktueller Bericht von Reuters:

World's gold miners stick close to home in hunt for more metal

By Susan Taylor and Nicole Mordant | TORONTO/DENVER

The world's biggest gold miners are taking a cautious approach in their hunt for bullion, spending more money to explore around existing mines rather than new territory in a strategy that may have short-term gains but risks future production growth.

Top producers are relying more than ever on small companies to do the heavy lifting of searching for new deposits and increasingly taking 10 to 20 percent equity stakes in the junior miners.

Exploring close to home is more cost efficient and improves the odds of discoveries. But the chances of making major new finds are limited, diminishing global gold output, which is expected to decline by nearly 9 percent in the next three years.

"It only makes sense to be looking in your own backyard first before exploring elsewhere," said Paul Rollinson, Chief Executive of Kinross Gold, which spends about 90 percent of its exploration budget around existing sites.

"We focus on areas we already know, with existing infrastructure nearby, in jurisdictions we are comfortable with."

The world's 10 biggest gold miners are bumping up the share of exploration budgets earmarked for land around existing mines, or brownfield exploration, increasing the spending to 56 percent in 2015 from 45 percent in 2013..

SNL Metals & Mining: Neue Studie zum Explorations-Sektor, Aktivitäten der Majors gewinnen wieder an Bedeutung

Informative Zeilen vom Mining-Spezialist SNL Metals & Mining:

Majors Are Driving Mining Exploration Budgets – SNL Metals & Mining

By Alex Létourneau of Kitco News
Tuesday December 09, 2014 9:54 AM
(Kitco News) - While the general ideology is that junior companies are responsible for a large part of exploration, a study by SNL Metals & Mining shows that major miners account for 40% of global exploration allocation.
Mining research firm SNL said in its 25th annual Corporate Exploration Strategies study “$50 million for exploration is available on the SNL company briefing books.  In 2014, these 39 larger players budgeted a total of $4.33 billion and accounted for 40% of the $10.74 billion worldwide exploration total.”
The top three explorers were Antofagasta, a copper producer; Vale, a diversified major; and Fresnillo Plc, a precious metals producer and the world’s leading silver producer.
SNL said Fresnillo’s budget is divvied up evenly between all stages of exploration, with a small emphasis on advancing several pipeline projects.
“Together, the 39 larger players contributed 40% of the worldwide exploration total in 2014, with gold representing 41%, copper 32% (41% base metals), and 7% each for diamonds and other targets (including silver, potash, phosphates, and manganese),” the report said. “Two of the larger players, Alrosa and De Beers, accounted for 69% of worldwide diamond exploration.
“The 25 larger players with gold exploration budgets were responsible for 39% of worldwide gold allocations,” they said. “In the middle, the group’s copper explorers accounted for just over half the total copper budget.”
Touching on junior miners, the report stated that a unrelenting “financing drought has squeezed juniors’ budgeting to the point that the majors have become the biggest drivers of early-stage exploration. Similarly, the larger players traditionally dominate minesite spending; in 2014, however, they account for only 51% of the near-mine work as their investors demand improved returns over growth.
“It is also interesting to note that the larger players are responsible for just 32% of late-stage exploration and feasibility work.”
The CES study also noted that Chile has replaced Canada as the leading jurisdiction for allocated exploration budgets. Also falling on the list were the United States, Russia and China..

Wichtiger Tag, FOMC Meeting: Yellen's große Muppet Show geht in die nächste Runde

Zerohedge dazu mit dem jüngsten Beitrag.

Vor den marktrelevanten Ereignissen noch die "geniale" Quote der Woche v. Yellen an Amerika's arme Bevölkerung:

"..Her message? It is important to build assets, or said otherwise...  get rich..."

Hilsenrath Backs Away From His "Considerable Time" Prediction

Tyler Durden's picture

Yesterday's exuberant equity market reaction has been largely defined by the mainstream media as driven by WSJ Hilsenrath's 'confirmation' that Yellen will keep the uber-dovish phrase "considerable time" in the FOMC statement today. So, we wonder, why did the Fed-whisperer, after markets had closed last night, issue a quasi-retraction of his prediction explaining that instead of some prohetical "I just know" statement, it was a "best guess," as he concluded, "will the Fed take these steps? Only the people in the room know that. The rest of us will see Wednesday afternoon." It appears the sell-side disagrees with him on the language...

In a webcast Tuesday, I explained why I thought the Federal Reserve would stick with, but qualify, an important phrase in its policy statement Wednesday which assures near-zero interest rates for a “considerable time.” This was simply my best analysis of where I think the Fed is going based on what we have been reporting and what officials have said in the past.

...

Here’s my analysis: Janet Yellen is a methodical individual and the Fed, in normal times, is a slow-moving institution. It takes time for debates to play out. Ms. Yellen is seeking consensus, as we reported earlier this week. The considerable time debate doesn’t feel ripened or fully aired. When Ms. Yellen has used the phrase in recent months she has qualified it, but not suggested changing it. Meantime the Fed has other business on its plate. The exit plan has been in the works for months, as has the plan to end bond buying. Changing the “considerable time” guidance now, while also announcing an exit plan, could be viewed by market participants as a surprising move toward raising rates.

Fed officials haven’t forgotten last year’s “taper tantrum,” when long-term interest rates shot up as they commenced discussions about winding down the bond program.

We reported earlier this week that Ms. Yellen, as Fed chairwoman, hasn’t behaved as the easy-money policy “dove” that many market participants expected. That doesn’t mean she’s suddenly a hawk. It just means she’s not a dove.

Ms. Yellen’s most logical next step, to my mind, would be to stick for the time being to what she’s been saying, which is that rates will stay low for a “considerable time” with the strong qualification that this could change if the job market keeps improving quickly. Staying on message this month could entail signaling an end to the bond program and a more formal exit strategy. The Fed would then have time to air out a change in the “considerable time” formulation for a later date, giving Ms. Yellen time to get all of her colleagues on board.

He concludes: "Will the Fed take these steps? Only the people in the room know that. The rest of us will see Wednesday afternoon."

Indeed Jon.

But here is what the sell-side thinks...

  • Growing number of FOMC members appear to be pressing for change

Eric Green, head of U.S. rates and economic research, wrote in note
  • Fed policy is set to become more flexible, retain message that there will be slow path to normalization

Physisches Gold wandert in wenige, mächtige und sehr feste Hände

Guest Post: The Rockefellers
The Rockefellers, The Rothschilds and many other giant Dynasties
These financial industry giants lived through all the wealth cycles of the past 100 years and more. What used to be long term wealth investments evolved to the day-trading, making money activities, with a top in the year 2000. Then the financial industry morphed rapidly into the absurd High Frequency Trading. All wealth is now a spooky derivative of what it once was. Debt rules!

Junior-Sektor: M&A Aktivitäten erhalten am Jahresende kräftigen Auftrieb
